Gentle Galoots,
I had originally submitted by bio 12/21/95 or earlier and I noticed that mine is
n't in the OLDTOOLS bios. So here goes:
I am 33, live in Columbia, MO. Have a wife and a 4 year old son. My day job
is as a Grants Administrator at the University of Missouri. My interest in woodw
orking started as an innocent salvage job of an old bowling alley (Hard rock Map
le). There seemed to be a natural progression of thought until I ended up maki
ng a 8'x 3' woodworking bench. I first built a childs workbench as a model for
my big one. They both use keyed, through mortice and tenons on the stretchers
, holdfasts, a tooltray in the back, drawers underneath, etc... Have built sev
eral things and am currently working on the Veritas toolchest in Walnut. Last
summer I built a small scale (9'x12'x14'high) barn, complete with loft. I am p
roud to say that it was built entirely with handtools. The loft is great to stor
e lumber in. The haydoors make it easy to move wood in and out. Currently I
am drying lumber purchased from the Amish. But thats another story.
I have the basic arsenal of old hand tools. I enjoy learning the old ways and
like to buy tools with a history behind them. As John Gunterman used to say "I
'm an analog man trapped in a digital world".
