169108 Kris Easter <free_heeler226@y...> 2007‑04‑16 Bio
After lurking for quite a while and posting a couple of things here and
there I figured I should step up and introduce myself more properly.

My name is Kris Easter, I live in Longmont, CO and I recently finished
insulating and drywalling my garage. Hopefully that will keep it from
being 20 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter and 110 in the summer. (I
actually started this quite a while ago and I can now report that the
shop stayed above freezing all winter long which is good news for my
waterstones.)

My interest in Old Tools mostly came from crowding the shop, er, garage,
with enough power tools that it seemed quicker to grab a plane and joint
a board then to pull out the powered jointer. Sadly, my only plane _was_
a Stanley 4 1/2 (wide smoother, Jeff) frankenplane. It didn't seem quite
the right tool for the job and the resulting research has led me down
that slippery slope known all too well by most here. I'm mostly
interested in old tools where they give me an advantage, either the
quiet, the lack of dust, or the visually pleasing hand cut joinery, etc.
I'm not yet convinced that I'm going to rip all the rails and stiles for
a set of kitchen cabinets by hand but perhaps I'll reach that level of
enlightenment some day.

By day I work at computers, programming business type applications more
or less. I find relief by going home and building something with a life
expectancy greater than five years.

As for the email address, in the winter my free days are usually spent
telemark, or free heel, skiing.

Kris
