Frank,

Welcome! I reposted your 'bio' with a new subject line. The listmoms would
probably miss it otherwise. They do a good job but don't always read all of
every message.

As requested here is a "bio" and a photo of the handle of the Disston saw.
I'm surprised that I'm the first South African to have posted to your
group!! I hope I can contribute and I know I'll learn a lot from you guys.

My wife & I live in the holiday coastal town of Hermanus about 120 km from
Cape Town. Hermanus is well known for its whale watching facilities.

My interest in woodworking started in my first year at high school but I
have accumulated machines & tools over the past 40 years. They include an
INCA combination saw bench & planer, an INCA bandsaw purchased in Rhodesia
in the late 1960's, a second hand CORONET MAJOR lathe, a BLACK & DEKER
radial arm saw. Being a geologist, I spent a lot of time away from home in
my early years & so wasn't all that productive but this has now changed
since retiring in 1998.

I have joined the local Overberg Woodworkers Association which meets once a
month. Only recently have I taken an interest in procuring "old" tools. This
has been prompted by my wanting to pass onto my grandchildren some of the
wonderful hand tools that the old, genuine craftsmen used so successfully to
produce some truly magnificent pieces of furniture.

Kind regards

Frank Tennick

P.S I hope the photo comes out alright?
