1) My local grocery store has shrink-wrapped, kiln-dried fire wood.

Ed, it gets stranger.  My Northwoods log cabin is in the Chippewa National
Forest.  There forest has unimaginable quantities of downed, or broken and
hanging, dry firewood, free for the taking.  And yet, stores in the area
sell firewood, some shrink-wrapped.
