264787 Micah Salb <msalb@l...> 2018‑01‑23 Design Advice Sought
To My Dear Colleagues in the Companionship of the Workbench:
I am building a large bookcase using very thick quarter-sawn walnut. In our TV
room we have a brown leather sectional. Part of it is a peninsula, dividing the
room. This bookcase will go behind that part of the sectional and will hold
large heavy cookbooks.
I have built the basic structure-but I have scrapped the design that I had
previously planned to use, so I would love to hear some ideas that you all might
have. You can see where I am so far in the project at the following link:

thing up are not attached.)
The wood is very pretty and should remain the chief aspect of design. The
second primary element of design is its blockiness, but note that the two side
pieces are cut wider at the top so that they are the same width as the top and
the more narrow bottom. I intend a sort of 1950s feel by that.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts!
Micah
