265175 Anthony Seo 2018‑02‑19 FS: February Findings List B
Second run of tools for February. The madness that is the weather
around here still is going on, but I've managed a few flea runs and a
few scores as well.

PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Stanley

Stanley No 42X Saw Set Or Sawset. This weighs 12 3/4 oz unboxed. This
is in used but good shape, it was cleaned and repainted. The original
finish was work and there was some rusting so I prettied it up. That
ain't perfect but it's better than it was. The plunger and anvil are
good. The plunger assembly and the screws were all oiled. This ain't
minty but it will get the job done. $55.00

Stanley No G12-020 9 1/2 Adjustable Mouth Block Plane. This weighs 1 lb
11 1/2 oz unboxed. Made in Merry Olde England. This is in used but
good condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you
see is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks would think
that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. The sides are good. The
sole has some scratches and a few light posts of patina. The finish is
original and about 99% present other than on the tops of the sides. The
cap is good other than a few dings to the finish. The blade has a
little patina on the exposed areas. The cutting face has a thin and
very light band of frosting down but the edge but nothing too deep and
there is lots to work with. The blade will need a sharpening. All the
screws work and were oiled. This ain't minty but it will get the job
done. $28.00

The mark is faint but can be read. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. The blade has some spots of light pitting. The rulings are
faint but also can be read. The rosewood handle is good. This is true
but it ain't no Starrett, just saying. This ain't pristine but it is a
working tool. $17.00

Two Hand Scraper Blades. The upper one is a modified H Disston & Sons
measuring 3 7/8" long, 2" wide across the straight end, 1 1/2" across
the curve, the lower one is a Stanley No. 0, measuring 4 15/16" long, 2
7/16" wide, and they weigh 2 3/4 oz unboxed. These are in used but
reasonably good condition and were not cleaned. The Disston has some
scuffs and some spots of light rust. The edges are good. The Stanley
also has some scuffs. The long edge on the top is good to go, the
others will need a sharpening. These ain't pristine but they are handy
and quality tools. $24.00

Stanley No 60 1 1/2 Inch Paring Or Bench Chisel. Measuring 4 7/16" from
the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 2 3/4" long, this is 8
1/16" overall, and this weighs 8 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned. The back is good. The top has some
staining and a few light spots of pitting. The edge is fairly sharp but
there are a few tiny dings. The handle has little wear and a wee bit of
paint on the back. The plating on the striking button is a memory but
it's not too bad otherwise. This ain't pristine but these wider ones
sure ain't been showing up much of late. $23.00

Stanley No 66 Type 1 Hand Beader To Restore. This weighs 14 1/2 oz
unboxed. Justus A. Traut of New Britain, CT was granted Pat. No.
335,856 on Feb. 9, 1886 for the design of the fence used on this tool.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned by someone else who sprayed
it with the shiny stuff. The japanning is pretty much a memory. The
sole has some frosting and scratches. Somebody widened the mouth to
allow for a wider blade. There also is a chip on the front of the
mouth. The clamp and screw are good. This will need the fence and
screw but those ain't that hard to make. This is what it is but you
ain't gonna get much more for this kind of money. $22.00

Uncommon Stanley Rosewood No 85 1/2 Panel Marking Gauge Or Gage. The
beam is 20 1/2" long, the head is 7" wide, and this weighs 12 1/4 oz
unboxed. This isn't signed but Stanley wasn't real big on marking their
rosewood gauges. This is in good condition and was cleaned. The beam
has some light dings and stains and there is a well done hanging hole at
the end so you won't have to drill one yourself. The head is good other
than user initials stamped on the front. The point screw works and the
point does remove. That is bent a little but the tip is good. The
locking screw on the head does it's job. The brass shoe between the
head and the beam is a correct replacement. This ain't pristine but it
sure ain't bad and these guys do not show up very often. $100.00

Stanley No 70 V-Logo Reversible Head Cabinet Or Box Scraper. This
weighs 14 1/2 oz unboxed. The blade has the V-logo which was used on
Stanley tools between 1910 and 1920. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you see is because of
camera lens distortion, although why folks would think that I would sell
a bent plane is beyond me. The sole has some wear at the front and a
few dings but nothing too bad patina wise. The japanning is original
and about 80% present. The cap is good. The blade is also good other
than some staining and some dings on the top. The blade will need a
sharpening. The screw works but it does not back all the way out. The
handle has some dings and stains. This ain't pristine but these guys
got used hard and rarely are. $23.00

Hammers & Blacksmith

Old 1 3/4 lb Ball Peen Hammer Head. Measuring 4 7/16" long, the face is
1 1/2" in diameter, the peen is 1 3/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1
lb 11 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, W made his mark on
the one side. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The peen is good other
than some light dings. The face also has some dings and wear and there
is the start of a wee bit of mushrooming on the edge. The eye is good
other than a little crusty. I did run a file over a few bumps on the
inside. This ain't minty but it is a quality old hammer. $18.00

this weighs 1 lb 12 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light patina.
The face has some light pitting and a couple of small chips around the
edge. The peen is good other than a small chip off of the one end. The
eye has some crusty inside and I ran a file over a little mushrooming on
the inside but that is good to go. This ain't the prettiest but it will
get the job done. $23.00

the face is 15/16" wide, 1 1/16" high, the peen is 1 1/8" wide, and this
weighs 1 lb 10 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light pitting
and patina. The face has some light dings and a wee bit of mushrooming.
The peen is dulled but that can be fixed easily enough. The adze
style eye is good other than a little crusty inside. This ain't pretty
or perfect but it does have some age to it. $17.00

high, and this weighs 2 lbs 10 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some
overall light patina. The face has a few light dings and some wear and
there is the start of some mushrooming. Somebody sharpened up the peen,
there is a little chipping at the one end. The punched eye is good.
This ain't perfect but it is a well crafted old hammer. $25.00

Blacksmith Hand Forged Hot Cut Chisel Head. Measuring 5 11/16" long,
the edge is 1 1/4" high, and this weighs 1 lb 15 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is
the usual patina on the body. The edge is good, not shaving sharp but
still good in my book. I did take down some nasty on the striking end.
There still are some checks and a couple of small voids but it's better
than it was. The punched eye is good to to. This ain't pristine but it
will get the job done. $18.00

ATHA 5 1/2 lb Double Face Blacksmith Sledge Hammer Head. Measuring 6
5/8" long, the faces are roughly 1 1/2" square, and this weighs 5 lbs 8
3/4 oz unboxed. The mark is faint but I figured it out. This is also
marked 6 which would have been the weight with the handle as was the
practice of the day. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is some overall patina on the body, including dings and user
initials chiseled into the one side. Both faces have some light pitting
and wear and the one has some chips around the area. But it ain't like
you are gonna be knocking out jewelry with this guy. The eye is good
other than a few light dings around the edges. This ain't pretty or
perfect but this is a quality older hammer. $24.00

1 3/8" high along the eye, and this weighs 2 lbs 13 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is the usual patina found on these tools. There are some scuffs
from this being dressed. Both faces are dinged up and would need to be
dressed if you want to use this guy. The eye is good other than a
little crusty. This is what it is, but these guys sure don't show up
much any more. $18.00

Fayette Plumb Anchor Brand 4 lb Stone Mason Hammer Head. Measuring 5"
long, the faces are roughly 1 3/8" in diameter, and this weighs 4 lbs 2
oz unboxed. The Fayette R. Plumb Anchor brand mark was used from 1890
until the 1930's. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
is some overall light patina on the head. Both faces do have chips off
of the edge traveling back to the sides. The eye has a couple of light
drill marks from old handles being taken off but nothing that would
interfere with putting this guy back on a handle. This ain't prisine
but these guys were made to be used. $24.00

face is 1 7/8" high, roughly 1" wide, the peen is 1 15/16" high, and
this weighs 3 lbs 14 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is some overall light pitting and some cut marks on the
sides. The face also has some light pitting and the edges are worn a
little but there is no major carnage there. The peen is good, not
shaving sharp, but still good to go. The eye is good as well. This
ain't perfect but it is a quality American tool. $20.00

Starrett & Machinist

Uncommon Einar Hanson Worcester MA Machinist Bar Clamp. The jaws are 4
7/8" long, 11/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 6 1/2 unboxed. There isn't
much information on the company but from what I can find, Einar B.
Hanson worked with his brother at No. 54 Hermon street, Worchester, MA,
where he made machinist tools around the 1920's. This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned by someone else. There ain't much in the
way of patina to fuss about. The jaws have some wear to the finish but
the edges are good. The screw threads have a few tiny dings but they
travel the full distance. I gotta say that tools by this maker are very
uncommon to say the least. $20.00

Two L S Starrett No 470 Framing Square Stair Layout Guides. They weigh 2
oz unboxed. These are in used but good shape and were not cleaned. There
ain't much to fuss about patina wise. The screws are good and the edges
are crispy. There ain't much more to go wrong with these guys. These
have been copied by a lot of makers but these are the original ones. $18.00

Two L S Starrett 6 Inch Fay Pattern Calipers. There is a No. 74 inside
caliper measuring 6 11/16" long, a No. 75 outside caliper measuring 6
5/8" long, and they weigh 6 oz unboxed. These are in used but
reasonably good condition and were cleaned. They both have some
frosting and light patina but nothing too bad. The outside caliper has
a user name on the back of the leg. They both have the solid nut and
they are good and travel the full distance. These ain't minty but they
sure don't have the price tags of minty ones either. $30.00

Two Older Craftsman No 4061 Adjustable Trammel Points. They are 4 3/8"
from the top of the body to the tips, and they weigh 5 3/4 oz unboxed.
These are in used but good shape and were not cleaned. About then only
note is that there is a user mark on the bodies, the one is faint but
it's there, and there is a little wear to the finish on the edges. The
screws and tips are all good. This even has the center spinner piece.
These ain't perfect and despite what you may think of the Craftsman
name, these are quality older tools. $28.00

L S Starrett No C305R & 604R 12 Inch Machinist Rules. The upper one is
a satin finish No. C305R, ruled in 10ths and 100ths on one side, 32nds
and 64ths on the other, the lower one is a tempered No. 604R, ruled in
32nds and 64ths on the front, 8ths & 16ths on the back, and they weigh 2
1/2 oz unboxed. These are in used but reasonably good condition and
were not cleaned, at least by me. The No. C305 has some light wear, the
No. 604R has some light scratches and a few light spots of patina but
nothing too bad on either of them. The edges and corners are all good
and there are no user marks on them. These ain't minty but considering
that they are 1/2 the price of new ones, well they sure ain't bad
either. $30.00

L S Starrett Machinist No 166 B Pin Vise. This weighs 3/4 oz unboxed.
This is in used condition and was cleaned. There really ain't much in
the way of patina other than the usual shop wear. The chuck has some
light scuffing on the knurling but the rest is good as are the jaws. The
hard rubber handle has some spots and dings, but that is good and it's
clear all the way through. This ain't minty but it sure ain't bad
either. $24.00

Bates Mfg Co Orange Mass 6 Inch Machinist Combination Square. This
weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed. The Bates Mfg. Co. made machinist tools in
Orange Mass from 1913 until 1927. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. The rule is marked in 16ths and 32nds on the one side and
1/8ths and 16ths on the other side. The rule has some frosted spots but
nothing too bad patina wise. The edges have a few light dings and the
corners have a little wear but all the rulings are readable. The head
has some wear to the finish. The machined surfaces have some frosting
as well. The level vial is good and the scribe is MIA. The locking
screw works and was oiled. This is true but if you want .001 accuracy,
well save your pennies for a minty Starrett, a lot of them that is. $22.00

Working & Collectible Tools

Four Vintage Wood Jewelry Clamps. The one on the left is 5" long, the
others are 6" or thereabouts in length, and they weigh 12 1/2 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. These are in decent condition.
The only cleaning was to give them a wipedown with some wax. The bodies
have some staining. The left one has leather pads at one end, the other
three are double ended. Some of the pads have some wear and are a
little stiff but they are good for the most part. These will need
wedges but that is easily done. These ain't perfect but they are
quality older tools. $20.00

6" long, the handle is 4 1/16" high, and this weighs 3 1/4 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker, but this is a Disston product. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. The blade is clean for the most part
but there is some pitting on the top of the slot and some roughness on
the edge there as well. The rosewood handle is good other than some
dings. The fancy head screw is good and does it's job. This ain't
perfect but it will get the job done. $15.00

Two Vintage Spoon Or Quill Point Brace Or Bitstock Bits. The upper one

long, the cut is 5/16" in diameter, and they weigh 3 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. These are in reasonably good condition for the
age and were cleaned. Inside the blades there is a little patina but
nothing too bad. Both of the backs have some staining and frosting and
they both have a score mark that someone added as a depth gage. The
edges aren't bad but will need a quick sharpening. Both tangs are good,
neither are notched for a bitstock but that can be done. These ain't
minty but considering the age of these guys, they sure ain't bad either
and they sure ain't getting any easier to find. $16.00

Vintage Chair Makers Adjustable Hollow Auger. This weighs 1 lb 6 3/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. The finish on the body is work. The plating on the wheel
is also worn. The blade is good and clean. That will need a quick
sharpening. The screws all work and were oiled, but the two that hold
the blade and the angle adjuster screw don't back all the way out. The
tang has a few dings on the edges but nothing too bad there. The depth
stop is MIA but then real men don't need no stinking depth stop, just

Old W & C Wynn Cobblers Lasting Pliers. Measuring 8 1/16" long, the
jaws are a hair under 1/2" wide at the tips, and this weighs 11 oz
unboxed. The W & C Wynn were Birmingham England tool makers, in
business from the end of the 18th Century until the 1870's when they
merged with R Timmons. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is some overall light patina but nothing too bad. The jaw teeth
have some wear at the tips but further down they are pretty meaty. The
hammer poll has some dings and a little mushrooming. The through the
center joint is good with very little play. The handles are good other
than a little roughness at the ends. This one never had a tack claw.
This ain't perfect but it sure ain't getting any easier to find these
guys in working condition, at least around these here parts. $25.00

Kilborn & Bishop Countersink Auger Bit. Measuring 4 1/2" long, the cut
is 13/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. The Kilborn &
Bishop Company started was founded in 1896 in New Haven, CT. I don't
have an ending date but they made wrenchs, pliers, and chisels as well.
This is in good condition for the age and was cleaned. There is a
little patina but nothing too bad. The head is good, the blades will
need a quick touch-up in the sharpening department. The tang is good as
well other than a few light dings on the edges. This is not a very
commonly found tool by this maker. $14.00

Fulton Tool Co 1/2 Inch Heavy Bevel Edge Firmer Chisel. Measuring 10
3/4" from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 7 1/2" long,
and this weighs 8 oz unboxed. While Fulton was a brand name used by
Sears on some of their tools, the Fulton Tool Co was a seperate edge
tool maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The back has
some scuffs and frosting but nothing too bad. The top has some light
pitting down by the edge and some overall frosting. The socket also has
some light pitting as well and I did take a little mushrooming off of
the striking end. There is some chipping where the socket meets the
blade but this is solid. This will need a handle, I don't have any here
that would fit. This ain't the prettiest but it will get the job done.

cleaned. The blade has some light frosting and pitting and a few
scratches. The rosewood handle has some wear and dings. This is
reasonably true but if you are looking for Starrett accuracy, well move

dots of patina but nothing too bad. The teeth are good and fairly
sharp. There is a slight wave to the blade looking from the top. The
handle has some dings and stains but it's solid and the chuck and screw
are good. This ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad and well finding

A Matched Pair H Chapin Union Factory No 18 1 1/2 Inch Hollow & Round
Planes. The cut is 1 1/2" (straight across) and they weigh 2 lbs 12 1/2
oz unboxed. These are in reasonably good condition and were cleaned.
Note: These are straight, any bending you see is because of camera lens
distortion. The bodies have some stains and dings, there are thin
checks on the toes, and the usual hammer marks on the heels. THe sole
of the round has a few light scratches. The sole of the hollow has some
roughness on the sides before the mouth and a stained spot behind the
mouth that has some wear. Both mouths are good, they aren't super tight
but were never messed with. The wedges are good with just a few light
dings. Both of the tangs on the irons have some light pitting. The
cutting face on the round iron is clean other that some frosting, the
cutting face of the hollow has some light pitting down at the edge but
nothing too deep and both of them have lots of steel left. These ain't
perfect but these larger matched pairs are sure getting hard to find.

condition and was cleaned. There are the usual stains and dings on the
body. There is a scratch on the heel but it's not a check. The sole

tight. This does not have a fence but that's the way that it was made.
The cutting face of the iron is clean other than a few stained spots.
The profile is correct. The edge will need a light sharpening. The
wedge is good other than a few dings. All in all this is a good working

sweep is just the roughness from when it was made. I did clean a little
sharpness off the end of the handle and that that is good to go. This

forge weld line where the handle is attached to the shaft on the
