268204 Anthony Seo 2019‑03‑25 FS: The Madness Of March List B
Second run of goodes for the month of March.  Winter still hasn't
completely left the building here but I keep hoping.  The summer fleas
open up in a couple of weeks and some good weather would be appreciated.

PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Uncommon J B Stohler Small Hand Forged Belt Axe.  Measuring 14" overall,
the head is 4 5/16" long (across the center), the edge is 2 11/16" high
(straight across), and this weighs 1 lb 6 1/4 oz unboxed.  John
Beamsdorfer Stohler was a Johnstown PA edge tool maker who worked from
1866 until 1919.  This is in decent condition overall, it had been
previously cleaned and I just took off some recent patina.  There is the
usual patina on the head.  This has an iron body with a steel bit set
into the edge.  The bit is 5/16" to 3/8" in width and is good.  Somebody
else cleaned up the poll and there is some scuffing on the sides and the
end.  The eye is good but there are a couple of thin checks at the front
and rear showing on the underside.  The handle is old, but I'm not sure
that it's original.  That has some rasp marks and wear.  The head
wiggles a touch but it ain't gonna come off.  This ain't perfect but I
gotta say that a Stohler tool in this size is very uncommon to say the
least.  $80.00

Stanley No 3 Type 2 Pre-Lateral Smooth or Smoothing Plane To Restore.
This weighs 2 lbs 9 1/2 oz unboxed.  This is a Type 2 and was made by
Stanley between 1869 and 1872.  This is in fair condition overall and
was cleaned.  The sides have some pitting, most of which is light but
there are a few deeper spots and there is groove filed on the one side.
probably for indentification.  The sole also has some pitting and
scratches.  The japanning is original and about 50% or so.  The solid
back lever cap has some frosting and spots of light pitting.  The tote
has the beaded base and is correct.  That has a couple of tiny checks
and dings.  The threaded rod for the knob does not unscrew from the body
but the brass nut works.  The solid back depth adjuster nut has the
Stanley name and patent date but there are some dings on the back.  The
rest of screws work.  The tote rod is original.  This will need a tote,
blade, and chipbreaker.  This is what it is, but the parts that are here
are well worth the asking price and then some.  $125.00

Early Hand Forged PA Stye Hand Axe.  Measuring 16 5/8" overall, the head
is 7 1/4" long (across the center), the edge is 2 13/16" high (straight
across), and this weighs 2 lbs 13 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the
maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  Somebody else had
cleaned this guy and dressed the poll, I just took off some recent
patina.  There is some overall patina on the head.  The edge has a few
tiny dings and would need a sharpening.  The poll still has some pitted
spots but nothing too bad.  There is a void on the underside along the
forge weld line at the front of the eye but it doesn't look to be
cracked.  The handle is a nicely done recent replacement made of black
walnut.  The head is on tight, at least sitting here.  This ain't the
prettiest one of these guys that I have had but this one sure ain't
bad.  $40.00

Stanley No 5C Type 19 Jack Plane.  This weighs 4 lbs 4  oz unboxed. This
is a Type 19 and was made by Stanley between 1948 and 1961. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The sides have some frosting
but nothing too bad patina wise.  The sole also has some light
frosting.  The japanning is original and close to perfect.  The lever
cap has some glazing and some dots of patina.  I did oil the lever
because it was squeaking.  The chipbreaker is good.  The blade has some
stained spots on the exposed areas and the back but the cutting face is
clean and there is lots to work with. The blade will need a sharpening.
The tote and knob have most of the original finish plus a coat of wax.
There are some dings on the finish on the back of the tote and and few
light stained spots as well but it's solid.  All the screws work and
were oiled.  This ain't minty but it will get the job done.  $58.00

Old Heller Bros Hand Forged Flat Jaw Blacksmith Tongs.  Measuring 16"
long, the jaws are 2 7/16" deep, 1 1/8" wide at the tips, and this
weighs 2 lbs 9 1/2 oz unboxed. This is also marked 3/4 X. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is all kinds of patina going
on.  The jaws are fairly good, but there is some welding splash on
them.  They are grooved down the centers.  The joint has a little wiggle
but nothing too bad.  The handles have some scuff marks up by the joint
where it looks like somebody "erased" some user marks and I did run a
file over a few bits of sharp splash on the them.  They are also bent a
couple of different ways but if you know a good blacksmith, I'm sure he
could straighten them right out.  These sure ain't no picture of
perfection but they are quality tongs with a lot of work left in them.

L S Starrett Machinist 12 Inch Combination Square Center Head.  This
weighs 4 3/4 oz unboxed.  This isn't signed but most of these aren't.
This will fit the 12" and 18" Starrett and Brown & Sharpe combination
square rules.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  The
machined surfaces have a little frosting but nothing that will affect
this being used.  The finish is original and is good other than a little
funky and and few dings.  The locking screw and tab work just fine and
were oiled.  This ain't minty but it will get the job done.  $18.00

oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The
blade has a few light spots and some scuffing but it has almost all of
the original finish.  The edges and corners are good.  The rosewood
handle has a few dings but the edges are good for the most part.  The
locking screw does it's job.  This ain't pristine but it will get the
job done.  $18.00

1/2" high, and this weighs 1 lb 4 3/4 oz unboxed.  Made in Japan. This
is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  The face is good other
than a few light dings.  The finish is worn a little and has a few
stains.  The base has a little patina going.  This ain't for knocking
out horseshoes but for small pieces and jewelry it will get the job
done.  $25.00

Wm Schollhorn US Army Blasting Cap Pliers.  Measuring 6 3/4" long and
this weighs 4 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in decent condition and was
cleaned.  There is a little patina including some crusty up in the joint
that I couldn't get to.  The crimpers are good.  The joint has a little
play but nothing too bad.  The punch and screwdriver handle ends are
both good.  This ain't minty but these guys rarely are considering how
and where they were used.  Just saying.  $19.00

and this weighs 9 3/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker, it is

staining on the head.  The jaws are good other than one tiny chip off of
the end of one.  The joint is good.  The handles are also good to go.
These guys sure ain't been showing up much lately, at least around these
here parts.  A good addition to any WW2 field kit for sure!

Buck Bros 1/8 Inch No 21 Bent Carving Tool Chisel.  Measuring 4 11/16"
from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 1/8" wide across
the sweep (a hair narrower at the edge), this is 9 5/16" overall, and
this weighs 2 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and was
cleaned.  The inside of the sweep is clean, however somebody rounded the
tip and beveled the edges for about 1/4"  The rest of the shaft is
good.  The handle is original and is good save for a few light dings.
This ain't perfect but Buck Bros carving tools are as good as anyone
else, at least in my book. $21.00

S J Addis 1/16 Inch No 4 Carving Tool Gouge.  Measuring 3 3/4" from the
edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 1/16" wide across the sweep,
the sweep is a No. 4, this is 7 7/8" overall, and this weighs 1 oz
unboxed.  This also has the Hammacher Schlemmer & Co mark on the back.
This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. There is a little
frosting and staining on the inside of the sweep but nothing too bad.
The back has a few small and light pitted spots. This will need a
sharpening.  The handle is a Buck Bros, that's what this came with and
that's what this is leaving with.  The handle has a few dings and stains
but it's solid.  This is a hard size and sweep to find.  $21.00

Goodell Bros Push Screwdriver.  Measuring 10" when closed, 14 1/8" when
extended, the blade is 1/4" wide at the tip, and this weighs 6 1/4 oz
unboxed.  Henry E. Goodell and Albert D. Goodell of Shelburne Falls, MA
were granted Pat. No. 432,729 on July 22 1890 and Pat. No. 463,506 on
Nov 17 1891 for the design of this tool.  This does have both patent
dates on the ferrule.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned by
someone else.  There is some light pitting on the sides of the blade but
it's correct for the tool and it does remove.  This works well but the
spiral could stand a drop of oil. The handle has a check on the one side
and a ding on the end but it's fairly solid.  This ain't pristine but
tools that are 120 plus years old rarely are.  $17.00

C S Osborne 8 Inch Wing Compass Or Divider.  Measuring 8 1/4" from the
tips to the top of the joint, and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.  There ain't nothing much
patina wise on the legs.  The wing has some dings from the locking
screw.  The joint and tips are good.  The locking screw works.  The fine
adjustment nut also works, there isn't a lot of travel but it is a
"fine" adjustment.  This ain't minty but it's a lot less than the price
of a new one even with the shipping.  Look it up.  $22.00

lbs 12 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned and repainted by someone else.  The groove is
kinda tapered in width but the face is clean. The striking end is nice
and pretty but there are some voids around the edge.  The handle is
solid but the head wiggles a touch.  This is what it is, but for the

staining.  The micrometer is good. That turns smoothly and the rulings
are all readable.  The locking cap for the rod works and the threads
were oiled on that.  The rod is also good and is flat on one end and
rounded on the other.  This ain't minty but it is a quality older tool.

unboxed.  This has the B casting mark on the underside of the cap which
was used on Stanley tools made between 1899-1902 which puts this guy in
the 120 year old range.  This is in decent condition, this was cleaned
and refinished.  Read on.  The machined sides have some frosting.  The
sole also has some frosting and some dots of light pitting.  The
japanning was pretty much gone so that's why it was repainted.  That
ain't perfect but it's better than it was.  The cap is good.  The Rule &
Level blade has some pitting on the exposed areas and some light stuff
on the cutting face but there is lots to work with.  The blade will need
a sharpening.  All the screws work and were oiled.  Pretty and perfect

reasonably good condition.  I only did a little cleaning on the 1".  The
backs of the blades have some light scuffs and the 1" is missing a
little plating.  The handles are good.  The striking buttons have some
dings but no cracks that I can see.  These ain't fancy but they are

Vintage Wooden Compass Sole Plane.  Measuring 9" long, the iron is 1
15/16" wide at the edge, and this weighs 1 lb 9 oz unboxed.  Not signed
as to the maker, this is marked X I X A on the heel, probably a shop
mark.  This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The body is
beech and has some stains and dings.  The sole is good other than some
dings.  The mouth is fairly tight, but there is a very thin and short
check along the rear on the one side.  The wedge is also good.  The
Dwights & French iron has some patina on the iron parts but the cutting
face is good other than some staining and light scuff marks.  The iron
was thinned down originally to fit the plane, but you do have to remove
it through the mouth.  The edge will need a little work.  This ain't
minty but these guys rarely but this is a real compass plane and not

a few chips around the edge.  The peen is flattened a little and also
has some light dings.  The handle is a fairly recent addition.  That is
good and the head is on tight setting here but things do loosen up.

E C Stearns No 8 5/8 Inch Chairmakers Hollow Auger.  The cut is 5/8" in
diameter and and this weighs 8 1/2 oz unboxed.  There is no maker's mark
but the No. 8 is cast into the under side of the blade clamp area and
everything else says Stearns to me.  This is in decent condition and was
cleaned.  The finish on the body is pretty much gone.  The face has some
very light pitting but nothing too bad.  The blade clamp does have some
deeper pitting.  The blade has some pitting, mainly on the back, but
that is sharpened to a knife edge so that won't be a problem.  The blade
will need a sharpening. The tang, which also acts as the depth stop, has
some frosting, but the rulings are readable, and the edges are good.

it is a solid and collectible old tool.  $25.00

orange paint on the inside of the bell that didn't want to come off.
The blade is clean other than some scuffing and there is plenty there to
work with.  Both of the screws work and the tang is good.  This ain't

Five Gimlet Tip Bits For A Brace or Bitstock. The first one is a 4,
(these are in 32nds of a inch increments in cause you were asleep in
class that day in first grade), the next one is a 4, the next one is a
7, then an 8, the last one is a 9, and they weigh  4 1/2 oz unboxed.
All are in reasonably good condition, all were lightly cleaned but they
were not bad to start with. There is a little patina up in the grooves
but nothing too bad.  The edges feel good but that doesn't mean that
they won't need a touch-up.  None of these are notched for a bitstock
but that is easy enough to do. It sure ain't getting any easier to put
these sets together.  $22.00

Neat Small Crosby Steam Gage & Valve Co Wooden Rule.  Measuring 2 3/4"
long, 7/8" high, and this weighs 1/4 oz unboxed.  The Crosby Steam Gage
& Valve Co was a Boston Mass manufacturer in business (from what I can
find) from the 1870's until they weren't.  This is in good condition
overall and was not cleaned.  There is a little staining but nothing too
bad.  The edges are good and all the rulings are readable.  This was
used to set something on their gages or valves, but what. I have not a
clue.  But it is a neat and very collectible little rule.  $20.00

Hand Forged Blacksmith 4 lb Cross Peen Hammer Head.  Measuring 4 5/8"
long, the face is 1 7/8" high, 2" wide, the peen is 2 1/16" wide, and
this weighs 3 lbs 15 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This
is in decent condition and was cleaned.  Somebody had painted this guy
white for some reason and that was removed since there is no tell what
paint is hiding.  There is a whole lot of patina going on, including
dings, pitting, and some scuff marks from some previous cleaning or
dressing.  The face has some light dings and is worn to the one side.
There was some mushrooming dressed off before this guy got here.  The
peen has some light roughness and there is a chip off of the one
corner.  The peen also looks like it had some mushrooming cleaned off.
The punched eye has some light crusty inside and a few bits of paint
that I didn't feel like fighting with.  This ain't the prettiest but it
does have some age to it and it sure ain't ready for the scrap bucket,
at least in my opinion.  $28.00

Irwin No 62T 1 Inch Brace Auger Bit. This weighs 6 3/4 oz unboxed. This
is NOS, that's New Old Stock.  I take some spots of rust off of the
shaft and inside the spiral (this wasn't stored some place nice).  There
is a little up on the head but that will go way as it is used.   The
cutters, spurs, lead screw, and tang are all factory fresh. They don't
get any better than this.  $15.00

Small Hand Forged Stone Brick Mason Cutting Chisel.  Measuring 8 1/16"
long, 1 15/16" wide across the edge, and this weighs 8 3/4 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned
by someone else.  There are some spots of pitting on the handle and some
scuffs on both sides of the blade left over from when this was made.
The other guy also sprayed this with the shiny stuff but that ain't
gonna hurt nothing.  The edge is good and was sharpened recently.  The
striking end had some mushrooming taken off and that is good to go.  $16.00

Fine Products England Bit Carving Tool Roll With 9 Pockets. Measuring
12" long, 10 1/2" high, featuring 9 1" slots and weighing 5 oz unboxed.
Made by the H. L. Fine and Son Ltd company of Middlesex England.  This
is NOS, that's New Old Stock.  This one has been sitting out of the
package and has a strip of sun bleaching but I have others still
un-opened.  This will work with brace auger bits or carving tools with
blades up to 7/8" in width.  $16.00

Small 4 3/4 Inch Hand Forged Draw Knife.  Measuring 11 1/8" overall, the
blade is 4 3/4" long (straight across), about 5/8" wide across the edge,
and this weighs 8 1/2 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker, there is
a user name lightly scratch marked on the back. This is in reasonably
good condition and was cleaned by someone else.  There is the usual
patina found on hand forged tools.  The edge is slightly curved and is
sharp.  The one handle has some checks but both are on tight.  The
washer at the end of the one is loose but it and the handle ain't gonna
come off.  This ain't the fanciest but it is a sweet tool for the small
jobs.  $27.00

Early English Flat Bottom Saw Tote.  Measuring 7 1/4" long and this
weighs 6 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in as
found condition and was not cleaned.  There is some overall wear but
this guy is fairly straight.  The grip has a couple of thin checks near
the bottom but nothing that goes all the way through.  The top horn has
some wear on the end as does the lower horn.  This is missing one of the
nuts, but when chances are, when you get as old as this guy is, well so
will you.  Just saying.  I tried the nuts and they do turn but I didn't
have the screws all the way out.  This is what it is, but if you need
one to restore an old English saw, these guys are pretty much few and
far between.  $18.00

Two Big Hand Forged 6 Inch Pinch Dogs.  These are 6" long, 5 1/2" across
the tips, 2 1/2" high, 7/16" square, and they weigh 1 lb 3 1/2 oz
unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  These are in decent condition and
were cleaned.  There is a little patina on the bodies.  Both tops have
some dings and the start of some mushrooming.  The tips are a little
dull and could stand a quick sharpening.  These ain't perfect but they
are heavy duty tools that sure don't show up very often.  $20.00

G W Denison & Co Screw Arm Plow Plane Body & Fence To Restore.  This all
weighs 2 lbs 3/4 oz unboxed.  This is in reasonably good condition and
was not cleaned, at least by me.  The body has the usual dings on the
heel and some stains and other marks but no checks.  The skate has a
little patina but nothing too bad. The depth stop is good and works.
The wedge has a little dinging on the edges and under the finial.  The
fence has a small chip off the lower edge at the front and some stains
and dings.  Where the arms and nuts went, I have not a clue, but
Denision is a collectible maker.  $35.00

Tyzack Sons & Turner No 131 8 Inch Gentleman's Steel Back Dovetail Saw.
Measuring 12 13/16" overall, the blade is 8" long, 1 9/16" high (from
the teeth to the start of the back), this is sharpened to 15 PT (14 TPI)
CC, and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. This is NOS (that's New Old Stock)
and was not cleaned. There is nothing to fuss about at all other than a
few very light scuffs to the finish on the blade. This is factory sharp
and straight and they don't get any better than this.  $22.00

Uncommon Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Bending Tongs.  Measuring 12 1/16"
long, the jaws are 1 5/16" deep, 9/16" wide across the jaw faces, and
this weighs 2 lbs 8 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in
decent condition and was cleaned.  There is the usual patina including
some crusty up inside the joint that I couldn't get too.  The jaws have
steel faces a little over 1/8" thick.  Those are good other than a small
chip off of the one corner and have some light filed cross hatching.
There is a wee gap at the front when they are closed and they aren't
quite flush across the tops.  The joint has a little wiggle and the
rivet has been "adjusted" a few times but it ain't gonna faill apart.
The handles are good other than the one spot on the inside where there
is some scaling.  This ain't pristine but this style of tongs rarely
shows up and I have been selling tools for a long time now.  $30.00

Unusual Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Anvil Hardie.  Measuring 5 7/8"
long, the face is roughly 1 7/8" long, 1 1/2" wide, the shaft is about
7/8" square, and this weighs 2 lbs 8 1/4 oz unboxed.  Not signed as to
the maker.  This does have chisel and punch mark decorations on both
sides of the head.  This is in decent condition and was cleaned.  There
is some patina but nothing that didn't come from old age and hard work.
The face is good other than some staining.  The head and shaft are bent
a little but when you get to be this old, you are gonna be more than a
little bent.  The center section is tapered and the hole below the
center and the holes on the sides are also tapered, although they may
have been added to this guy later in it's history.  I an thinking that
this was used for drawing down a rod to a smaller size, but it didn't
come with the instruction manual so that's just a somewhat educated
guess. This is a neat and very collectible blacksmith tool and it sure
didn't get here for free either.  Just saying.  $55.00

Old Blacksmith Forged Hand Held Drift Punch.  Measuring 9 9/16" long,
about 7/8" in diameter at the handle area, and this weighs 1 lb 3 3/4 oz
unboxed.  Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition and
was cleaned.  There is the usual patina found on this kind of tool.  The
tip is bent a wee bit and I did clean off some mushrooming.  The
striking end has a bloom of mushrooming but nothing sharp.  This ain't
pretty or perfect but then neither are you and it will get the job
done.  $17.00

Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Hot Cut Chisel Head.  Measuring 7 1/4"
long, the edge is 1 7/16" high, and this weighs 3 lb 6 1/2 oz unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker.  This is in decent condition overall and was
cleaned.  There is some pitting and patina on the head but this guy was
never a pretty tool to start with.  I did rough in a new edge to clean
up some chipping but that will need some fine tuning if you want to use
this to shave your hee haw with.  The striking end has a little
mushrooming and some dings and a few tiny checks.  The punched eye is
good save for a little crusty.  This ain't minty but it will ge the job
done.  $18.00
