36126 David Misevich <davem@h...> 1998‑02‑03 BIO for David Misevich
Hello Everyone,

I am David Misevich, and I live in Canton, Michigan, USA. I am 33 years =
old, am married and have two daughters ages 3 and 1.

To support the afore mentioned wife and daughters, I am an engineer for =
a company that supplies software and hardware to auto companies that =
allows them to test their cars for emissions etc. to allow them to pass =
government standards.

I am fairly new to woodworking, and have only completed 2 projects. I =
made a coatrack for my daughter, and an adirondak chair to sit out by =
the pond in the backyard. I will be making it's twin this winter =
(hopefully). My current project is a dresser for my one year old. I =
think you will be approve that I shunned advice from fellow woodworkers =
at work to use roller drawer slides. I decided to go with traditional =
methods instead.

As far as old tools I am a newbie, but think that I am predisposed to =
them (my grandpa was a cabinetmaker who emigrated from Russia so maybe I =
can blame my genes). When I bought a cabinet scraper, learned how to =
turn a burr and tried to brag about it at work, I got blank stares from =
my co-workers. They are the powuh sanduh types, who have decided the =
coolest thing in the world is to make something nice out of wood, then =
take it to the local mill and run it through their belt sanduh for 10 =
bucks. That just don't appeal to me.

I have begun down what will probably be a slippery slope, and have used =
the FMM to order up a #4 and a #5 from Galoots Bob Johnson and David =
Brown. They haven't arrived yet, but I am excitedly awaiting them. These =
will be my first planes, and I probably won't get anything done on the =
dresser until I get them sharpened and try my hand at planing.

According to the definition in the Porch Glossary, I am already a Galoot =
simply by subscribing to this list. I will hold off on accepting the =
title until I can make the planes walk and talk (at least a little bit).

It's nice to meet you all.
Good Day,
David
