Just been wandering up and down the sidewalk for about three months,
shuffling and staring at my feet, catching wafts of porch conversation
on the way by, understanding some, almost all entertaining. As it
would appear proper to post a bio prior to an onslaught of questions:
Live in Penfield, NY near Rochester, president and part owner of Dell
Tool / Rol-Tru Bearings, company of 62 folks making precision turned
parts from metal and our own line of ball bearings. One SWMBO, one
SWMBOette (5), and a potential galootboy (not quite 2, going on 15).
Within past six months have been making attempts to grow hand tool
skills, plenty of power tools to keep me puckered but just growing the
hand tool count. L-N 60-1/2 is the favorite, older Stanley's #4, #5
and #6 (courtesy of a very gracious galoot, Alister thank you) and a
M-F #9. Having small successes here and there, but overall not enough
time to devote. Looks like a proper #7 and the L-N 164 might be next
on the list, not sure if I can wait for the L-N #7 (waited too long on
a well-priced 607 and it's gone). And I heard rumour of a L-N A2
infill that could catch my attention. The vast majority of you have
forgotten more than I presently know about hand tools and techniques.
I'll try to find answers on my own first, but if I post a real doozy
please be gentle.
Paul
