Ok! Ok! Earlier admonishments ("shameless lurkers," etc. . .) weren't
enough, but now that THREATS are being thrown about. . .
I am 35 years old, husband of 14 years, the father of two girls 5 and 10,
and a son of 13. I have worked for the past 11 years for The L & JG
Stickley Furniture Company. Until two years ago, I lived all my life in
upstate/central New York north of Syracuse (the Snow Belt,) and
worked at Stickley's main factory in Manlius. They sent me downstate,
and now work in northern NJ, living in Warwick, NY.
I contracted the oldtools affliction quite unexpectedly. I needed a plane
for something, and wound up finding the MofA quite by accident. All of
you are familiar with the subsequent decline into rust hunting.
Nice furniture, that Stickley stuff. As employees, we get a substantial
discount but still can't afford it. Working with it has made me spoiled,
and unwilling to consider other brands. I would love to tell you I'm an
expert from the Cabinet Shop, able to field tough joinery questions, but
no. I manage the warehouse and delivery drivers. Transportation,
inventory control, customer service, last-minute miracles, that sort of
stuff. I also do all of Stickley's clock work in the tri-state area. If
I can
provide any assistance in these areas, I would be delighted. Until then,
I will continue learning from you folks, and enjoying the list. Sean
p.s. Well, Mr. Olguin, did I set some sort of lurk record?
