OLDTOOLS@l...

I'm a bit lost--could one of you folks with the longish arms point me the
right way...;-)

My woodworking started in grade 6--we had a great shop teacher at my public
school. I must have showed some aptitude since each year I finished the
assigned projects early. By grade 8 I'd built a single pedestal desk, and
some other stuff, although with a pretty simple design. BTW, hand tools
were emphasized; we weren't allowed to run the jointer or table saw.

Then came the long drought. It wasn't until 6-7 years ago that it occurred
to me that I could take this up again as a hobby. As with most of you, I
started with p*w*r tools. I guess I'm still near the top of the slope since
I don't take rough wood to foursquare with hand tools. But I sure like to
cut joints and finish surfaces with 'em. Did I just feel my foot slip down?

At least, that is, when I can get into the shop. I've got two kids under 2.
(I've got the older one indoctrinated to look into my shop and say "stuff"
and to call the rest of the 'items' in the basement "junk"!) Projects I've
completed include a child's art desk, a jewelry box, and a cutting table for
my wife's sewing. I have a seemingly endless list of projects I'd like to
do.

I'm a Chartered Accountant and I'm doing contract accounting and computer
work at the moment.

I live in Oakville, Ontario, Canada--just so you'll understand when I ask
what "colour" the Stanley logo is before I send a "cheque" to pay for it,
eh?
