Gentle Galoots;
It's come time to finally get an ISP at home, and move my OldTools
subscription there. While I'm at it, my bio was posted prior to the
web page, so I am submitting a new one for inclusion there.
Address Change:
old - Mike_Millow@m...
new - millow@f...
The old address still works, but I'm moving the subscription to the
new. I will be on both accounts pretty much every day (not the xerox
one on the weekend) so a response to any message should be relatively quick.
Bio:
I was born a not-so-small polish-chekloslovakian-american....wait,
ummhh - I'm 32and married to a most patient SWMBO (she's waiting for
the ladies Hat Paddy). By day I work at a hard to describe job being a
surrogate customer taking engineering's work and applying it in ways
they never intended....and telling them they need to fix it. Not
always a popular job, but an interesting one (really not that bad).
By night, I'm busy with a 101yr old money-pit, enjoying my wife's
company (no kids, yet), playing on the home computer, and squeezing in
some shop time. The "shop" is currently some boxes in the attic and a
mobile collection of money-pit maintenance utensils. The two car
garage (with loft) is slated to be mine, as well as most of the
basement (after removing the octopus and pouring a new floor). The
garage has a good floor, and wood stove hookup, but no power for
lights etc (not that I'd user p*w*r tools, nope, not me). It's also
full of all the "special" stuff we couldn't put in the house when we moved in.
The tool collection is definately a starter set at this point. I do own
some p*w*r tools, but had my epiphany before any major investment. My
oldtools supply is limited, several planes from previous generations,
an IT (no. 15), several books acquired of late and not much more. My
experience is limited to some basic dovetailing, and general money-pit
"you want me to fit this 32in cabinet into a 12in space cause you want
a dishwasher and we can't afford new cabinets so I'm expected to cut
this one up and rebuild it and have it look like it belongs there" skills.
We have plans to have a nice shop in the basement after replacing the
furnace, etc. The p*w*r tools will go in the garage to keep the mess
out of the house (if I don't just decide to sell them outright). I'm
lucky to have a SWMBO who supports my addict..hobby since some of what
I do supports her sewing hobby. She does roll her eyes at some of our
antics, but is also looking forward to moving the subscription to
home, so she can peak in at what we're doing and keep an eye on all
you folks - so behave, hey sit up straight over there in the corner,
and please don't miss the spittoon.
