54608 <cdela@p...> (Ciro de_la_Vega) 1998‑12‑11 BIO : Ciro de la Vega
GGs,

Seeing as how I've been lurking for months via the http archive, I guess it's
time I finally submit a Bio.

For those of you hoping for the prose or wit of some other members of the list
 - "Move along now, there's nothing to see here.".

I started out innocently enough - I was looking for a 'lectrical 6" jointer,
but noticed that a lot of the comments from rec.ww about them were not good.
So, I decided the heck with it, I could do the same work with a hand powered
jointah. I ran across the name Patrick Leach as a source, so an email went
out, and he extended me an invitation to visit lovely Ashby. With on offer
like that, how could I refuse?

So, one weekday, I cut out of work early and made the pilgrimage to Ashby. A
lesson in planing ensued (Thanks, Patrick!), and by the time I left, I was the
proud owner of a spiffy #8. (Isn't this how Paddy got started? With a #8 from
MofA? Should I be afraid?) The rest, as they say, was downhill. Before I knew
it, I was voyaging to New Hampshire for the Crane auctions. Vacations to
Maine became tool hunts. The truck stops at every yard sale.

To support my habit -err, hobby, I work as a software geek, writing PC BIOS
firmware. Gives me time to spend in the garage, making shavings, contemplating
 more tool purchases.

The current project is a workbench - I'm getting reaallllyy tired of chasing
the Workmate around the garage, to be followed by a hanging toolbox for over
the workbench.

1 hour Southeast of the Mecca known as the Leachmeister's, in the land NOT
known as tool h*ll.
