We lost one of our family members to kidney and liver failure, on 30 May 2002. Andrea got Darwin as a kitten when she first moved up here. He was found wandering around the local military base and Andrea rescued him from the pound. He was a very playful cat, and was an excellent bug-hunter. Living alone with Andrea for several years, he was very protective of her and would all-out attack strange dogs that came into the house no matter how much bigger they were. He was the dominant of our three cats, but enjoyed playing with Ivan -- chasing each other around the house and battling for catnip toys. He was also fond of going outside on a leash that Andrea had trained him with.

We'll miss him.
