Hello Boys,
I'm no one special. Just another woodworking galoot that works down in the bas
ement whenever the chance comes along (every night!?). I'm from a small town i
n South Texas (Kingsville) now living up in lower Michigan (Adran) working as a
Software Engineer (it pays the bills). My hearts always been into wood but I'v
e never had the opportunity to do much with it until I started working with Paul
Ebert (fellow galoot / office buddy). Paul's been good to me!
As far as wood goes, I'm new at it. I've just picked up my first Bailey #04 th
is past summer from a flee market and a #9 1/2. I just recently picked up a ni
ce #07 jointer from Jim Cook (Good man!). I've got some chisels, a hand saw an
d back saw. Just enough to do some damage and get me going. (Just the bare n
ecessities is what I like. Nothing fancy.) I've done some work with oak (it'
s not that bad!) and I've just gotten a hold of some good hard, knotty, splinter
y hickory (now that's some nasty stuff to work) to play with. These days all I
'm interested in is getting my hands on some different kinds of wood to experime
nt on how my planes and chisels will work with'em. So if anyone has any good s
tuff for a young galoot, I'm here and a'waiting to soak it up.
So with a LOT of hard work, a little bit of talent and skill, and the help and b
lessings from the good Lord above, maybe I'll get somewhere with this.
Now let's get some work done,
Ross Becker
